Intrepid Explorer

I took the long ride to the Night Safari alone after waiting for the rain to let up. A little eerie to not have someone to clutch on to during the show with bats swooping down on us and slinky animals being discovered in the audience. I was asked a hundred times, 'You all alone?' and then, this was followed by, 'Oh! So brave!'

But it wasn't really. Everything was organised and highly populated. The Call of the Night was incredible and I realised I love 'touristy' things! Oh to be born Japanese!

During the tram ride across the Night Safari being the sole passenger on the tram I was entitled to a personal commentary from the guide who spent more time telling me about her part-Indian origins than she explained the animals. But since many of them were water buffaloes (which we see on the roads) and sambhar (every self-respecting zoo/sanctuary), this was alright.

Pishi went to hear Zubin Mehta conduct; where he apparently greeted the audience with a 'Namaste!' Reminds me of Ismail Merchant!
