On television: the Mumbai blasts

It has all the ingredients of a perfect story.

Candles (Light a candle, salute the spirit)

Music (a background score of, preferably, violins)

Striking visual (close ups of faces, blood)

Personal relationship (you can be involved, send us your pictures)

Saviors ("Thanks to us, XY channel, this family was reunited because we played this story over and over till this boy came home...")

Human spirit (city-spirit, rather: "Mumbai bounces back to life". "This is the city that never sleeps". "Nothing can keep Mumbai back".)

Thank you Rahul Bose, citizen journalist on CNN-IBN from pointing out that Mumbaikers were up and about because they needed to be. They have money to earn, families to feed. For bluntly telling us we should perhaps not hold "romanticised notions" of 'spirit'.

City of traders, businessmen, daily wage earners. City of opportunity. They need the city. They came here to survive.
