I love being alone on public transport in a new city. I loved bumping my way back home on the 5C over Kotturpuram's smelly canals in Chennai, and I love merging with the faces I will never see again on an MRT ride to Jurong to the bird sanctuary in Singapore. The train is heavily cloaked in intermingling smells of Chinese food and body odour.
But Jurong! What colourful beaks the birds have!
Pishi and I take Chomel for a walk to the Botanical Gardens in the evening and I think these lawns would be reason enough to move to Singapore. We are there are at sunset and the sky is streaked with dark shades, large water bodies lie still all around us, and silent joggers heave up and down the hillocks.
At night we drive into swank Holland Village and eat at a lovely all-vegetarian place which has the best margarita ever. Ever.
