Pulling legs

Motheater's blog post reminded me of what misconceptions I had as a kid, and I can only think of one. In Amma's drawing room, mum told Sharada aunty (who died of gangrene) she was just pulling her leg about something and they both laughed. For years later when I thought of that incident, I had a crystal clear picture of Mum tugging at Sharada aunty's fat and white leg, causing her saree to rise well above her ankle exposing an unusual amount of skin. In my memory they played at this for a while, except it was all dead serious... mum tugging, Sharada aunty resisting.
