Playing papparazzi

My assignment today was to stalk Mahesh Bhat. Bhatt. He was going to be here for all of two hours to present an award by the Al Ameen Education Society to MJ Akbar, and I was to show up at the airport and wriggle into his car and interview him about Parveen Babi en route to venue (Le Meridien) since he was staying only one hour and leaving directly without waiting to socialise at the following dinner. But of course Al Ameen's director wasn't going to have his moment in the sun hijacked by an inquisitive reporter, so he refused me permission to thumb a ride with them. So I didn't go. So instead I picked up Kittu, brought her home, had dinner, caught up on all the news (Nami has a Sri Lankan boyfriend), ate at Corner House and then went home. So much for Mahesh Bhatt.
